The proposal arose from a competition held by King Price where local developers and architects work together to propose not only what the new head quarters would look like but also where it is to be ideally located. Situated between a the retail and commercial hubs of the Menlyn area, Pretoria.

 

The building would, on a commercial level, present itself as a mass that is indicative and suggests future scale and density of future and/or surrounding developments. On a pedestrian level, the building is cut and sliced to create openings, corridors for pedestrians to safely navigate the intensely vehicular surrounds. On an architectural level, the mass of the building derives its form from a series of environmental responses including solar, wind and light.
